Kyoto Ceramic Co., Ltd. is founded as a company specializing in fine ceramics with a capital of 3 million yen and 28 staff members. The company's facilities included headquarters and a factory (photo above).

Apr 1960 Kyocera Tokyo office is opened.
May 1963 Shiga Gamo Plant is established (photo above left).
May 1968 Kyocera receives the first annual Medium and Smaller Enterprises Center Award for Excellence.
Aug 1968 A representative office is opened in California, U.S.A.
Jul 1969 Kagoshima Sendai Plant is established.
Kyocera International, Inc., is established as an American sales company (photo above right).

Dec 1970 In cooperation with Feldmüle AG, Kyocera establishes Feldmüle Kyocera Europa Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH in Germany.
Mar 1971 Kyocera International, Inc., begins production of ceramic parts in the United States.
Oct 1971 Company stock is listed on the Osaka Stock Exchange, Second Section, and on the Kyoto Securities Exchange (photo above left).
Mar 1972 Received the 18th annual Okochi Memorial Production Special Award for fiscal year 1971, for the development of multi-layered ceramic packages for large-scale integrated circuits (photo above right).
Jul 1972 Headquarters is relocated to Kyoto.
  Sep 1972 Company stock is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Second Section.
  Oct 1972 Kagoshima Kokubu Plant is established.
  Feb 1974 Company stock is listed on the First Sections of both the Tokyo and Osaka Stock Exchanges.
  Apr 1974 Received the 16th annual Science and Technology Award for the development of ceramic lamination technology for electronic circuits.
  Mar 1975 Head office and plant of Kyocera International, Inc., are relocated to San Diego, California, U.S.A.
  Feb 1976 New shares of common stock, in the form of American Depositary Receipts (ADRs), are issued for sale in the United States.
  Jul 1976 The Children's Travel Program begins.
  Dec 1977 Kyocera (Hong Kong) Ltd. (now kyocera Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.)
begins business in Hong Kong.
  Jan 1979 Establishes Kyocera FeldmŸhle, Inc. as a joint venture in North Carolina, U.S.A.
  Sep 1979 Central Research Laboratory is relocated to new facilities in Kokubu, Kagoshima.

Kagoshima Electronics Co., Ltd., is established.
